Stipend Update — June 2021

Hi everyone, work has been steady for the team overall from Smart Contract / Blockchain / Platform to new hires in marketing and devs.

We are focusing on the Bridge as the next milestone for the project to continue work on partnering with swap/yield farming platforms as the wSPD will represent the SPD version hosted on the Binance Smart Chain.

Why is the Bridge so important? wSPD (aka Wrapped Stipend) is a token minted 1:1 ((Peg-in & out schema with proof of reserve)) to the current Stipend ontop of the Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20), it will allow Stipend to keep its current Blockchain and features (PoS & Masternodes)

Having a token version of Stipend that can at the same time be listed on DeFi platforms, Yield Farming partners and Token Exchanges/Swap with AMM is a very interesting and cheaper option compared to all coins listing walls we face. (untill liquidity/awareness increases)

Making our own Bridge is difficult but would allow us to avoid any overpriced fees and scam attempts from privately owned DApps. It will also keep integrity and ownership over the contract to the team.

You can change back from wSPD to SPD at any moment.

1.Bridge

Bridge Development has been steady. We still haven’t received the final version of the Bridge deliverables that will be shared with the community but we are still on time to deliver during the month of June.

Work has already started with Mathieu and a couple of Community members to start listings and partnerships with swap Defi platforms.

We will update the community in real-time on any progress made on the Bridge to avoid information leaks.

2. Platform

The platform received much attention this past month with David finishing the portfolio cycle and moving towards the SQL Migration along with Casey & Stephan.

Casey also finished the Wallet Integration Module and waiting for the SQL Migration so it can be integrated onto the Platform.

Zakaria has been moving on to finish most of the little bugs and has started trying to work on some BE tasks, mostly worked on the Activity System and the Coin Listing Feature.

SQL Migration (30%)

Our team is growing as well as the ambitions of the project, based on the dominant technology in our team and facing new challenges to use unique features in the project, we decided to migrate from non-SQL database (MongoDB) to SQL one since it’s a proven technology that has been used by large companies for over 15 years. Using SQL database, it’s possible to easily migrate to other SQL databases. There is the possibility of transactions, complex queries are supported, including analytics, and so on.

User profile — Add skills (100%)

We worked on adding a display skills system that was missing and replaced by placeholders for now adding a 3rd column button like Overview & Categories named Skills. The user would write down all of the skills they think are necessary and categorize them. Stars will be placed beside the skill entered with only 5 starred skills being displayed.

[FE & BE] Availability — Feature (100%)

The availability system will allow freelancers to control their online visibility to the other users connected to the platform. We wanted the green circle next to the name of the profile picture ticking light green when the user is connected, and red when he isn’t.

Stipend Coin Listing (80%):

Stipend Platform will host monthly(not every month) votes to list new coins inside the platform both offering visibility and possible exposure to the platform.

Zakaria mostly focused on this task and is now about 80% done and can be visited through the link down below.

Stipend Coin Listing BackEnd (100%):

We made a specific Backend page in the platform to allow the management of the different coin listing campaigns.

Platform Payment Module (waiting SQL refactoring)

After the implementation of the payment module the BE team realized we need to shift towards a SQL Database. Therefore, we are waiting to finish the migration to start working on the port.

One of the last stones before the release of the V1.0.

Stipend Portfolio System (100%)

One of the last features left on the freelancer side was finished this month still needs a UI Update but you can add items to your portfolio now.The access to Freelancers is restricted to connected users because we redid a large amount of code related to connections and freelance visibility (Availability) and should be fixed in the next couple of days.

Referral Dashboard User (15%):

We’ve had some progress done on the Dashboard referral feature and some FE components should already be working and the displayed data is dynamic.

Blockchain / Wallet (Upgrade)

During migrating process from v3.4 to v5.1 codebase, we encountered certain obstacles in the code that could cause to an unwanted fork of the network. We are currently working on this part to upgrade correctly and release the newest version of desktop wallet.

The deep reworking of the wallet is almost complete.

3. Team

We worked this month on acquiring new temp positions to help the team with most of their tasks from marketing, UI/UX to BE dev we should share more information about the members if they decide to stay for an undefined period in the project after the end of their current mission.

Marketing

3 new members joined the project in the Marketing department, they will mostly work on preparing strategies for the platform to acquire new Freelancers and Clients, at the end of their mission a comprehensive strategy for the Marketing of the Platform should be presented and finalized.

UI/UX Team

2 new members joined the UI/UX team to help and participate in the upcoming UI/UX overhaul of the platform once everything is put back together.

New Devs

1 new member joined the Dev team he will be helping with the Backend to help accelerate the finalization of the platform.

We have added 6 new team hires bringing our team to a total of 16 members.

4. Listings

The team is working daily on new listings for both the wSPD token and the main SPD coin to increase awareness of the project’s opportunities. We sensibly evaluate all offers and deeply analyze what each new exchange can give us in return for the commission that they ask. Of course, the bulk of potential partnerships are closely tied to a platform that they could touch with their hands, test, and even start using for their own needs. We make every effort to get the required platform status on time and be able to make significant progress in numerous collaborations/partnerships. We will keep you updated with the latest news and confirmed deals.

5. Conclusion

The team has been hard at work. We didn’t touch down on investments and other points again as we would rather share more details once there is substantial progress on that regard.

Expect the platform to be keep changing alot during the next weeks and whilst we refactor everything.
